Sydney Open 2014
Hong Kong House was open to about 1030 Sydney Open participants for a day packed with fun and sharing....
Presented by Sydney Living Museums, Sydney Open this year was held on 2 November 2014 with over 50 buildings in Sydney taking part in a day of urban exploration.
Apart from appreciating the fine architecture of Hong Kong House, a heritage-listed building, visitors were also treated to video shows featuring “Old Hong Kong” in the 1950’s as well as “New Hong Kong”, a fast-paced modern metropolis.
All visitors also had the opportunity to have their photos taken against backdrops one showing Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour in 1960 and the other one in 2014. A Chinese arts and crafts room presenting demonstrations of the fine art of Chinese calligraphy and paper-cutting gave all a chance to share the beauty and elegance of Chinese culture.
On the top level of the building, apart from taking in the breath-taking view of the surroundings, visitors were delighted to be able to try their luck in a lucky draw which gave away instant prizes of a range of Hong Kong-branded souvenirs - to remind them of their enjoyable day spent in Hong Kong House on a lovely Sunday with the nicest Sydney spring breezes.
